new dining hall blows into Chinook Centre
The new 30,000 sq.ft dining hall seats 835 and features 20 dining options for Chinook Centre. The renovations included; improved circulation, added connectivity to the C-Train, more food offerings, 85 more seats, refurbished original mid-century lighting fixtures, modernized sorting stations including organic waste disposal, as well as a newly accessible outdoor patio. One of the well openings was in-filled to improve circulation and add additional kiosk units, creating more space and improved circulation. Creating better circulation was important due to the new connector bridge to the light rail station that is now accessible through the food court. The overall look was modernized with all new custom furniture including curved white oak and glass mosaic banquettes which divide and define the space, white porcelain Italian tile, monolithic quartz communal bar counters with hot-rolled steel framework to give the white space a touch of an industrial feel. The space is virtually unrecognizable. Calgary has evolved into a sophisticated city and the design brings a fresh, modern and urban approach. The space is now clean, inviting, and hip yet classic, with a look and materials to stand the test of time.
